This literary festival lets attendees explore the world of books and poetry through workshops and presentations. A number of local venues are used including the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Workers' Arts and Heritage Centre, the Sky Dragon Centre and the Westside Concert Theatre.

You can also visit the soldiers’ camps, enjoy demonstrations of cooking, blacksmithing and dancing, plus explore the 200 year old Gage home. This is a wonderful historic event that is fun and educational for the whole family. The re-enactment is held the first weekend in June.
It’s Your Festival is the oldest and largest Canada Day fest and is one of the Top 100 Ontario festivals. More than 150,000 people attend, enjoying 5 stages of headliners, arts and crafts, food and dance. You can see Canada’s biggest birthday cake, watch a spelling bee, explore veterans exhibitions and art exhibits. Your kids will enjoy pony rides, puppet shows and an education centre. This annual fest was founded in 1988 and is renowned for presenting a wonderful mix of musical genres. Concerts feature the National Academy Orchestra along with world class soloists and popular artists. A number of venues are utilized for the concerts.
Fringe Festivals are unjuried theatrical events held at numerous venues, with audiences being entertained by unique and wonderful actors. Downtown Hamilton boasts a wonderful Fringe, held for 11 days in July. Check the website to determine which of the plethora of events you’d like to attend.
